The spokesperson to the National Hajj Committee Alhaji Halidu Haruna has alleged that a group of young men known as Azorka Boys Tuesday assaulted him in his office.Alhaji Haruna alleged that the group was led by the Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress to assault him following the inability of some pilgrims to go on the Holy journey to Mecca.Speaking to Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen Alhaji Haruna explains that the Azorka Boys did not only assault him but threatened to burn the passport office in 24hours if the rest of the pilgrims do not leave the country to Mecca.He said the Azorka Boys banged his chest and beat him mercilessly. Alhaji Haruna said the matter has been reported to the police for investigations.Meanwhile the Northern Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Sofo Azorka has denied assaulting Halidu Haruna.He tells Asempa News that they confronted Alhaji Halidu to demand explanations as to how people have paid their money and yet are not able to leave the country for Mecca.Sofo Azorka also denied threatening to set the passport office ablaze in 24hours but insisted that the rest of the pilgrims leave for Mecca.Story by kwadwo Acheampong/Asempa FM
