The Dean of Graduate School at the Ghana Technology University College says Ghanaian electorates are unpredictable when it comes election.
Dr Francis Boateng Agyenim said rather than going for the substance of ideas provided by Presidential Candidates and how it will translate to a better life for them, electorates go for the physical appearance of candidates.
“When it comes to the electorate a lot of things come into focus especially the posture and appearance of the candidates,” he said.
Dr Agyenim disclosed this on the Joynews/MultiTV’s news analysis programme, PM Express when reacting to the Institute of Economic Affair (IEA)’s Evening Encounter with the Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.

Taking his turn to walk Ghanaians through his grand vision when elected to the Presidency, the CPP leader touched on critical issues bothering the country.
From the challenges of the educational system to the difficulties facing what has largely been described as the greatest social intervention programme in the country, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Mocking the debate between the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the duration of the Senior High School, Mr Greenstreet said: “What we need is a seismic curricula shift and redirection.”
“The debate between the NPP and the NDC about duration, cost, and classroom is the least of the problems bothering Ghana’s educational system,” he noted.
On health, he said the CPP government will “support and enhance the NHIS” to ensure that no politician meddles with the system.
“We will also try to do more to mitigate road traffic accidents,” he said.
Touching on his delivery, Dr Agyenim was full of praise for the CPP leader especially in the content of the presentation and his mannerism.
“He is really a very good speaker,” he said.
“Looking at the various elements that come in speech delivery, he kept it very simple and the message was carried across and he varied the tone,” he said.
He, however, doubted if the performance of the CPP leader could translate to a good performance at the polls.
“It is dependent on the electorates,” he said, noting, “There have been several times that people have performed creditably well and lost the election.”
“It is quite difficult to sway people’s mind,” he said, adding, “With his information I am sure he has a chance of convincing those who are undecided.”
