Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson made his first English premier League start for Blackpool and impressed even though they lost 3-2 against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
His performance on the night has sparked hopes that he could be given more chances of playing after they fought the home side bravely.
All the three goals he conceded were out of his reach as he could not have saved any of them.
All the major media houses rated him as one of the best among the Blackpool players on the cold night in England.
It was his first Premier League start since joining the club on a free transfer before the transfer window shut in August.
The Ghanaian international shot stopper also made some crucial saves before the home side took the lead.
Poor defending from Blackpool allowed Marc Albrighton to fire in a shot that was held by Kingson.
A Villa corner then caused problems in the visiting defence but Clark could not get enough on his shot to trouble Kingson.
Blackpool ramped up the pressure again and it needed a good challenge from Luke Young to deny Harewood, but in the 28th minute it was Villa who took thelead through Downing.
The winger played a lengthy one-two with Ashley Young before turning on the edge of the area and sending in a shot that flew past Kingson with the help of a deflection off Dekel Keinan.
If this was an unfamiliar-looking Blackpool side – missing Charlie Adam, Stephen Crainey, David Vaughan and goalkeeper Matt Gilks, who had started all 11 League matches prior to this match – the style of football was very much what we have come to expect.
A fluid formation, plenty of movement up front and a real desire to outscore their opponents.
