The dust over the comments made by the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) may not settle soon as the Greater Accra Queen mothers Association has waded into the controversy.
Some Queen mothers in the Greater Accra Region are demanding an apology from Kennedy Agyapong for making misogynistic comments against the Electoral Commissioner.
The Association says the sexist comments undermine the integrity of all hard working women in Ghana.
The Queen mothers are demanding that the MP retracts and publicly apologise to all women.
Mr Agyapong at a mini rally in Asokwa alleged that Charlotte Osei got her job by offering sexual favors to some power brokers.
Since making the comments, there have been a lot of public backlash from the criticizing his comment as reckless, misogynistic and unbecoming of an MP.
Gender and Social Protection Minister, Nana Oye Lithur and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hannah Tetteh, have called on the MP to retract his comments about the EC Chair and apologise.
Adding their voice to the call, the Association has petitioned parliament as well as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to encourage him to apologise.
Deputy Communications Director of the party, Anthony Karbo, said he found nothing wrong with the comments by Mr Agyapong, noting that the MP does not make allegations without evidence to back them.
An aide to the flag bearer of the Party, Abu Jinapor condemned the comments saying the legislator claiming that Mrs Osei got her position by sleeping with power brokers is unfortunate.
