The son of an ambassador of the World Boxing Council (WBC) has cut the sod for the construction of a library for Tsiyinu Ando Community Basic School in the South Dayi district of the Volta Region.
Rodrigo Cobo's son, Diego Cobo, 13, raised about $15,000 from mates at school, family friends in the United States to finance the library project.
Diego said he shares the pain of the students ones who are striving to better their lives through education but lacks the basic tools to get quality education noted.
"I realized that we are not helping each other, my dad undertaking this project in Ghana inspired me to help these people because I want to follow his steps," Diego said.
"I hope to replicate the library project in other communities based on how successful the Tsiyinu Ando project would be" he added.

Construction of the library follows the WBC adopting the farming community of about 400 residents for development projects.
The adoption project which is being piloted would see the community provided with development projects in health, education, sports and sanitation.
The WBC would also assist the community to attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3, 5 and 6.
These are to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls and to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
To symbolize the adoption, a WBC championship replica belt was presented to the community. Adanu, the organization that facilitated the move and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Rockson Deafeamekpor were presented with a miniature belt each.
Speaking to Joy News, Rodrigo noted that "we would help this community in areas of education, health and more. In education, we will build a library, a high school and undertake projects year after year until the school gets everything it needs and we will build a hospital for the community."
"We gonna do a special fundraising for this community, what is part of the program is that each year three to five volunteers would come to the community and also World Boxing champions would take turns to visit the community and help sponsor a development project in Tsiyinu Ando," Rodrigo said.
The MP for the area, Rockson Deafeamekpor was grateful to the WBC for adopting the community to help develop it and pledged his support towards the completion of the library project, reports Fred Quame Asare.
