At least 200 Ghanaians resident in the North African country of Libya have returned to Ghana over recent violent attacks, Joynews has gathered.
Sources close to Joynews say the returnees were predominantly men who had left Ghana to seek better living conditions in Libya.
They are mostly persons who were performing menial jobs in the war-torn Islamic country.
Following the demise of its leader, Muammar Gaddafi in a joint Nato and the United States campaign to oust him in 2011, Libya has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Civil war continues to rage due to the proliferation of several terrorist groups, each intensifying their campaign to take control of the country.
Militant groups such as the Islamic State and Ansar al-Islam have taken part of the country while forces of the Tobruk government have allied with the powerful town of Zintan against militias loyal to the former General National Congress (GNC) and the city of Misrata in the West.
Since the start of the assault by militia forces against the other, economic activities in the country have come to a standstill.
Libyans have taken the bow for power blackouts and shortages of gasoline and propane in the country. There is also the lack of gas for cooking compelling many people to use firewood to prepare their daily meals.
The war is affecting communication in the country with only one of the two mobile phone operators in eastern Libya operating.
These challenges, Foreign Policy analysts have predicted will have a knock-on effect on other sectors of the struggling economy such as banking system.
This will knock out automatic tellers leaving many people strapped for cash, they have said.
