Doctored photographs of Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni showing him as a rap star are damaging his image, his press secretary has told the BBC.
The images started appearing in the local media after a rap remix of a song the president sang became a hit ahead of presidential elections next year.
Spokesman Tamale Mirundi said those showing the president half-naked and wearing bling were the most offensive.
The song has been seen by many as a campaign tool to appeal to the young.
The BBC's Joshua Mmali in the capital, Kampala, says the rap remix - You Want Another Rap - generated a lot of excitement when it was first released last month at the start of the election campaigns.
Then the president's supporters were quick to say it showed the president was in touch with the interests of the youth, he says.
But with digitally-manipulated images of Mr Museveni as a hip-hop star appearing in the Uganda press and on internet social networks, Mr Mirundi says the excitement has got out of control and needs to be checked.
"When you see a president with tattoos, a president with necklaces, a president half naked - no, no, no," he told the BBC.
