Only two years after refurbishment of the Accra Sports Stadium, metal structures in the edifice are gradually being destroyed due to its proximity to the sea.
The refurbishment of the stadium was completed in 2008 for the 26th Africa Cup of Nations and it cost the nation about 38 million dollars.
But it seems extra money has to be spent to solve the problem. For some time now, the score board at the Stadium has also been faulty and was one of the reasons why the Black Stars had to play their last game in Kumasi.
Joy Sports' Nathaniel Attoh, who was at the Accra Stadium Sunday, observed that the level of deterioration was fast rising.
Soccer fans who spoke to him expressed their disappointment at the lack of maintenance on the facility.
They said immediate steps must be taken to stop the edifice from total decay.
