Premier League champions, Aduana Stars have confirmed their participation in the 2011 edition of the Orange CAF Champions League ahead of the November 30 deadline.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set a deadline of November 30 for Clubs keen on participating in next year's continental Club Championship through their national associations, and Aduana Stars' insist they have rubberstamped their willingness to participate to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of schedule.
George Gyawu, Director of Operations of the Club told GNA Sports that his outfit has officially notified the GFA of their intent as far as the premier continental Club Championship is concerned.
"We are going to Africa next year and we are ready for the challenges ahead."
Gyawu observed that they have targeted an impressive outing in their maiden appearance in the competition that pits together league champions across the continent, to restore Ghana's status amongst the elites of African football.
"We hope to shine in Africa and raise the image of Ghana football. Initially, Ghana had two slots but it has gone down due to non-performance and the withdrawal of previous participants.
"The target of Aduana is to change that trend. Despite it being our first appearance, we are unperturbed and want to go far."
The Director of Operations noted that the Club has settled on the Osagyefo Agyemang Badu Stadium in Dormaa as their home venue for the competition.
"The stadium will be upgraded to meet the requirements for the CAF Champions League. We are very hopeful the upgrading will be complete before the competition commences."
Gyawu sounded convinced with their performance in the 12-week old premiership whilst ruing the dearth of their team's attack.
"We are occupying the second position, but our major problem has been goal scoring. We are in touch with some Clubs for the services of some players on loan before the closure of the registration window."
Aduana made history last season by scooping the premiership title on their maiden season in the elite division.
