The Offinso Divisional Police command has issued a 10-day ultimatum to officers on duty at Abofour police station near Offinso in the Ashanti Region to produce six suspects who broke jail at dawn Tuesday.
Joy News' Erastus Asare Donkor reports that the cell is a mud house built in the 1950s hence the ease of escape for the suspects after they created a hole through it.

The Offinso Divisional Police Commander, ACP Oduro Kwarteng who confirmed the cell break to Joy News said the inmates used a metal to create a hole through the wall.

ACP Kwarteng says police has mounted a search for the escapees as the policeman on duty have 7 days to produce them in line with standard police procedure.

According to ACP Kwartey, the police want to share with the public identities of the escaped inmates to aid in their recapture.
The incident comes in the wake of successful arrest and prosecution of defilement and other cases last week where prosecutors jailed six criminals.
A resident who spoke to Joy News said she was 'Shocked and surprised at how the suspects were able to break out cell without any officer suspecting. I’ve gone to take a look at the opening they created to escape; I think it was done today. I’m sure it would have been difficult for them to have escaped if the cell was built with brick, the thatch made it easier for them to execute their agenda. I will appeal to the authorities to renovate the cell here to avert any future occurrence.'
