This week has been very eventful with the 'Montie squads' appearance in court on Monday and the rejection of the new election date by parliament.

The Supreme Court ruled a case in favour of Zanetor Rawlings on the first day of the week. The court by a 4-1 decision ruled Dr Rawlings did nothing wrong in contesting for the Korle Klottey Parliamentary seat.

Three contemnors, Godwin Ako Gunn and Alistair Nelson and Salifu Maase were found guilty by the apex court for inciting hatred against and threatening to kill, justices of the Supreme Court.

The host of the programme on which the comments were made, Salifu Maase known as Mugabe, the two panellists and owners of the station were summoned by the Supreme Court to answer why they should not be held in contempt.

Presiding Judge, Sophia Akuffo ordered that the contemptuous tape is played amidst pleas from the counsel of the contemnors.

An interesting term that was used by Alistair Nelson has since featured in almost every conversation this week. He said he suffered a condition called "kpokpo gbli gbli" which forced him to make the contemptuous comments.

Also, the Electoral Commission (EC) began the exhibition of the Voter's register and the re-registration of some NHIS card holders whose names were deleted.

Still on election-related issues, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor on Tuesday reiterated the likelihood of blocking social media on election day.

In other news, the wife of the late Upper East regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said prior to his death her husband told her Gregory Afoko poured acid on him.

Hajia Zenabu Adams made this claim when she testified in court during the appearance of the suspect, Gregory Afoko.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday also threw out a case challenging the power of the President in appointing Justices of the Supreme Court without the advice of the Judicial Council.

Another historic day this week was on Thursday as when Parliament rejected the November 7 Presidential and Parliamentary election date after a secret ballot.

The Electoral Commission indicated after the voting that it was ready to work with the December 7 date.

But the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams slammed the Minority Members of Parliament for rejecting the bill.

It wasn't so surprising that discussions after the debate in parliament continued on Friday. A former Chief of Staff in the Rawlings government, Nana Ato Dadzie, said Parliament failed Ghana by rejecting the new elections date.
