American Hip hop star, Rick Ross has been named as the headline artiste for this year’s Airtel MTV Africa Music Awards.
Rick Ross is among a long list of artistes named by organisers as artistes billed to perform at Africa’s most coveted music awards show set to take place on Saturday December 11 at the Eko Expo Centre, Lagos, Nigeria.
This will be the star’s first visit to the continent and with an accolade by the New York Times as “one of rap’s most potent and creative forces,” it is no fluke that he has been nominated in the Best International Artiste category at this year’s MAMA awards.
Rick Ross will be rocking the stage with Ghana’s own fastest rapper, Sarkodie, who has been nominated in the Best Anglophone (English Speaking) category alongside Wande Coal of Nigeria, Daddy Owen of Kenya and Big Nuz of South Africa.
Apart from Rick Ross and Sarkodie other giants in the list of performers includes Nigeria’s Wande Coal, Kenya’s P-Unit, South Africa’s Jozi, 2Face (Nigeria), DJ Arafat (Ivory Coast), Daddy Owen (Kenya), Banky W (Nigeria), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Teargas (South Africa) and Cabo Snoop (Angola).
