Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Paul Pogba will move back to Old Trafford from Juventus.

“Is it a done deal? I think so, finally,” Mourinho said in his press conference after the Community Shield win over Leicester City.

“It’s amazing that such a good player is with us. Finally we have him.

"He comes to a winning side, a side that won the last two matches, the cup final and Charity Shield.He has to work hard to come to the team."I got info just before game, I haven’t had time to think about it. If he is here before the Premier League [starts] to give us time to work that is good.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Manchester United confirmed Paul Pogba will have a medical ahead of his transfer from Juventus.

Posting a picture with the word '#POGBACK', United's official statement confirmed, 'Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.'

The midfielder is close to re-joining the Red Devils for a world-record fee, and flew to England this weekend.

And the Guardian reports that deal itself has been done: "Paperwork completed by all parties with Pogba signing five-year contract," spouts the newspaper's sub-headline.

Nobody else has gone quite so far with their claims, however. Juventus briefed English reporters on Sunday afternoon, confirming that the player has been given permission to go ahead and have a medical ahead of the deal.

Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri had previously insisted that he expected the French international at Vinovo on Monday, but several sources - including Gianluca Di Marzio’s website and Premium Sport - had contradicted the Juve manager by insisting that he had been given permission to take his United medical.

The fee has been reported as €110m, plus another €10m in bonuses, but when a commission for agent Mino Raiola is added in the cost could be around €140m.

Assuming that all goes well with the United doctors - and there is no suggestion that the Frenchman has any underlying issues which might block a deal - then the final confirmation will likely come through on Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Some have speculated that the official announcement could be made ahead of the opening of trading on the New York Stock Exchange - where United are listed - on Monday. That would translate to a confirmation time of around lunchtime in England.
