Bereaved families who have planned to bury their dead at the Kpone cemetery will have to look elsewhere because no one especially non citizens is likely to be issued a permit henceforth.
Irate youth of Kpone last weekend blocked the roads to the cemetery ostensibly to prevent any burials there.
The Chief of Kpone, Nii Tetteh Otu II supports the action. He told Joy News there may be no more land for development if the rate at which the cemetery is expanding is not stopped.
He said the land need to be preserved for future use.
The chief accused the Tema Development Corporation and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly of failing to use the land leased to them for the intended purpose.
Officials of the TMA have visited the cemetery and expected to meet the traditional authorities to resolve the impasse.
