The Ghana Football Association says its search for a suitable coach for the Black Stars has been stifled by the unavailability of adequate funds. After the Black Stars’ recent success at the 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup, there has been a widely held view that there is the need for the GFA to appoint a world class coach to handle the team. Local man Herbert Addo, Portugese Humberto Coelho and Serb Goran Stevanovic are in contention for the job after the departure of Milovan Rajevac. The Football Association has confirmed that it can only pay the new coach a monthly salary in the region of 30,000 euros. GFA Vice President Fred Pappoe said the issue of inadequate funds has affected the head hunting process. He said the minimum benchmark is what Rajevac was earning, which is in the region of 30,000 euros. “If you get to the situation where those you are quite convinced can deliver the job are not prepared to take anything less than a figure above 30,000 euros, may be 35 or 40,000, then you have to find ways of talking to your sponsor to up their offer,” he said. Mr Pappoe said even though the search team came across coaches with impressive resumes, the team could not shortlist them because their asking prices were not affordable.
