Police at Asante Mampong say they will invite the Member of Parliament for Mampong, Addai Nimo, for questioning over an alleged violation of electoral laws.
The MP is accused of voting at a polling station where he is not registered.
A losing candidate in the polls and some National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists filed separate complaints against Mr. Nimo.
An electoral officer Frank Ohene is alleged to have cautioned the MP not to vote because he would breach constitutional instrument since he has not been registered in the Anyinampong electoral area.
According to Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah, the MP's name could not be found in the poll book and the photo album, yet he voted for his brother, Dennis Anerfi Afriyie who eventually won the December 29, 2010 Assembly elections.
The incumbent assembly man, Thomas Akuamah has petitioned the EC, seeking the annulment of the election results, but the EC insists the MP's behavior, even if it is later found to be irregular, could not be enough justification for the annulment of the entire results.
But the MP, Addai Nimoh has described the allegations as shocking and baseless.
“If I am invited by the police to comment on this allegation, I will do so as a law abiding citizen and more importantly as a law maker of this country.
“It is completely false, it is baseless. I have not done multiple registrations; I have not done multiple voting; I voted only once,” he said.
