A group of supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amansie Central district has vowed to resist the "disingenuous plot" by local party leaders to hound the District Chief Executive (DCE), out of office. They expressed absolute confidence in Mr Robert Bennet Forkuoh, the DCE, and said he enjoys the support of the party. This comes on the heels of reports of a planned demonstration against the DCE, fixed for Tuesday, January 18, at Jacobu. Mr Michael Akuamoah-Boateng, Spokesperson of the group, accused Mr Kingsley Anin, the District Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), who contested but lost the DCE position to Mr Forkuoh as one of those master-minding the agitation for his removal to give him a second chance. The others, he alleged, are; Messrs George Adu-Mensah, a former Deputy Minister, and Evans Yeboah, the District NADMO Coordinator. "Their only motivation is that of pure greed and selfish interest but not the general good and growth of the party", he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Kumasi. Mr Akuamoah-Boateng said: "we are aware that these very people who are doing everything to incite public anger against the DCE have been awarded contracts and yet they are not satisfied." He said it was time all genuine members and supporters of the NDC put the party's interest ahead of self-serving agenda. When reached on phone, Mr Anin, who stood on the ticket of the NDC in the 2008 parliamentary election, denied "working behind-the scenes" to bring down the DCE. "I am not a signatory to the petition by the party's constituency executive demanding Mr Forkuoh's removal." He, however, said all was not well with the party and that many of its supporters had become disillusioned and angry because the DCE was not relating well with them. Mr Adu-Mensah on his part admitted signing the petition and pledged support for any action to remove the DCE. He alleged that the activities of Mr Forkuoh had not been helpful to the cause of the party, a view that is shared by Mr Yeboah.
