Some NDC executives in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency of the Ashanti region have rejected demands by their colleagues for President Mills to dismiss the District Chief Executive.
One faction, led by the constituency chairman has petitioned the president to sack Tony Nyame for non-performance and disrespect for foot-soldiers.
But the other group, led by the Constituency Secretary, Kingston Opoku, argues the move is motivated by parochial considerations.
The pro-Nyame group, according to Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah are accusing their opponents of malicious machinations designed to stifle the development of the district.
The group says any attempt to remove the DCE, who has been in office for just a year, will adversely affect the development of the district.
“For me and other executives, the development of the constituency is the most important thing but not for ourselves [unlike our colleagues] who think that the money for the district should be shared,” he said.
The anti-Nyame group reject any malice in their call for the dismissal of the DCE.
Group leader and party chairman, Kwame Dramani said he had on several occasions struggled to restrain angry party foot-soldiers from violently removing Mr Nyame from office.
