The chairman of the UK/Ireland branch of the NDC, Horace Nii Ankrah has rubbished a research conducted by an independent research group that the majority of delegates in the party want former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to represent the NDC in 2012.According to a report published in the Ghanaian Eye newspaper, about 78 of the delegates had declared their overwhelming support for Nana Konadu saying they had lost hope in the President Mills led administration.The research, which was conducted by Spectrum Research Centre which based in the UK and US, was done in the Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Eastern, Western, Northern and Volta regions.According to the report, the delegates had issues with the way the President was running the country saying the direction in which he was taking the country would affect the party’s chances in the 2012 elections.However speaking on Adom Dwaso Nsem on Monday, Horace condemned the newspaper story saying Nana Konadu had not yet come out to declare whether she would contest and that such publications are being supported by people who are playing dirty games within the party.He said when the right time comes, the party would use due democratic processes to elect their leaders, no matter who the person is.He also denied allegations that they are paying huge sums of money to various Ghanaian media houses in the UK to massage information in favour of the party.He said the NDC is being led by men of integrity who do not believe in the payment of bribes to journalists.Mr. Ankrah reiterated that the good works of the Prof. Mills led-government are crystal clear enough to grant them victory come 2012 so they do not see the need to pay to get this message into the public domain.He said they will rather channel their limited resources to the government to help improve the lives of the underprivileged in the society.Story by Kwame Koranteng/Adomonline.com
