The Government of Ghana has entered into a partnership with the World Bank to undertake a special capacity building training program for Ghanaians on oil. The objective is to equip Ghanaians with technical skills for potential recruitment in the oil sector. Energy Minister Dr. Oteng Adjei disclosed this to Joy News after taking delivery of the report which will direct Government on ways to boost local participation in the oil sector. He said the government will seek to strengthen the Ghana Maritime Authority to enable it produce materials that fit into the oil industry. Dr Oteng Adjei said the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was running a programme for the oil sector “and the World Bank is ready to provide us [with] funding for all the equipment we need to change the current petroleum department into a unit that will be equivalent to any petroleum school outside Ghana.” Source: Joy News/Ghana
