A communication expert and a lecturer at the Cape coast University, Emmanuel Sarfo has described comments made by the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party, as unfortunate and unwarranted.Nana Addo-Danquah Akufo-Addo, in his tribute to the late Theresa Amerley Tagoe over the weekend, disclosed that he Nana nicknamed the former Member of Parliament “Bottoms” as against the popular TT that she is been called. The statement which is now known as the infamous “Nana’s Bottoms speech”, has stirred controversy.Speaking on Adom Fm’s Dwaso Nsem on Monday, Mr. Emmanuel Sarfo said the impact of the statement might have been underestimated. He said the statement could give a boost to the rumors by the NPP's political opponents to the effect that, Nana Addo is a "womaniser".Mr. Sarfo further said Nana Addo’s comment could give political arsenals to the opponent. Some newspapers have also interpreted the comment to mean the Volta Hall, the all female hall at the University of Ghana, has been described as a sex joint for sexually active male students on campus, and this is said to have stirred disquiet among a section of the female population in the country.Observers say they are not only horrified by the derogatory comments about the female hall by Akufo-Addo, but also by his sexist remarks, which deepen the stereotype of Ghanaian women as sex symbols. But in a sharp rebuttal, one of the aids to Nana Addo Samuel Abdulai Gyinapor has defended Nana Addo saying the statement was misunderstood.According to Mr. Jinapor, Nana and the late Theresa Tagoe were cousins and there was no way he could have had any intimate relations with her.Story: Kofi Adomah/Adom News
