About 50 members of the United Cadres Front(UCF) in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region have renounced their membership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
They, however, did not give any indication of which political party they plan to join.
Mr John Blay (Jnr) Municipal Co-ordinator of the UCF and Spokesperson, told newsmen at Ejisu that their action was in protest of the removal of Mr Mohammed Boakye-Agyeman from office as Municipal Chief Executive.
He said the members found it baffling the level of “impunity of the later-day NDC fanatics, calling themselves foot soldiers and inspired by pure greed and self-serving agenda turning themselves into king makers”.
Mr Blay said it was unacceptable to sack Mr Boakye-Agyeman, the Regional Chairman of the Cadres Front, because he was tagged as a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party by his detractors.
The UCF warned of more trouble for the NDC ahead of the 2012 general polls, if “some misguided elements” are allowed to have their way and decide the direction of the party.
Mr Blay said members were convinced that Mr Boakye Agyeman had not been treated fairly.
