Operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations, BNI, on Monday picked up four persons for questioning in connection with a planned grand welcome for Libyan leader, Muammar al-Quathafi.
Mr. Quathafi is on his way to Accra leading a convoy of several vehicles for the African Union Summit.
The four, members of the Direct Democracy Network, an NGO that evolved from the Green Book philosophy of Quathafi, were picked up during a meeting at Achimota in Accra over plans to welcome the Libyan leader.
They were released after hours of questioning and are expected to report to the BNI on Tuesday.
A member of the group, Kwame Abonu told Joy News armed, plain-clothes BNI officials stormed the meeting claiming they had been sent to effect the arrest of the leadership who they accused of plotting to subvert the Constitution.
He said those arrested were released at 9pm after their phones had been switched of for hours and only after they started raising the alarm on radio.
