Ghana is facing major financial challenges in its bid to organize the next African Bodybuilding Championship
Ghana is rated third in Africa behind Egypt and Mauritius after winning two silver and three bronze medals at the last edition of the event in Mauritius two years ago.
Already, 14 countries have confirmed participation on the competition which comes off in Accra between February 23 and 28.
This is the first time in the history of the event that a West African Nation is hosting and each nation will have the opportunity to compete in nine weight categories.
Abdul Hayye-Yartey who is President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association says putting together the competition is tough.
He said the event was scheduled to come off in October last year but was postponed to December and further to February owing to financial challenges.
