Ashanti Youth Caucus, a pressure group in the Ashanti region has threatened to demonstrate on Wednesday February 16th 2011 against Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo if he does not apologise on his controversial “all-die-be-die” comments. According to the group, it is very unfortunate that such a comment could come from a person who is aspiring to be the President of the country. The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday 8th February told party members at Koforidua to gear up for a serious electoral battle in 2012 because the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would try to hold on to power by all means, even though all the odds are against them (NDC). Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, a member of the group Kwame Adusei said Nana Akufo-Addo has made a great mistake by his comments. According to him, the mention of Akans in Nana Addo's comments could also evoke ethnic sentiments which he said are detrimental to the peace currently being enjoyed in the country. Kwame Adusei noted that because the main objective of the group is to ensure peace in the country they will demonstrate against him. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had earlier demanded an unqualified apology from the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo over his comments. But the NPP flagbearer has dammed his critic by repeating his comments for the second time while addressing party members in the Greater Accra region. Story by: Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
