The National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches ha condemned what they describe as the recent upsurge in ethnocentric pronouncements in public discourse by leaders of the various political parties.
They have called for a cease fire between political parties and to rather focus on issues that affect the majority of Ghanaians.
The comments by the Association comes in the wake of calls by the flagbearer of the opposition NPP Nana Akufo-Addo to party faithfuls to be bold and courageous during election 2012 and fight with their lives saying “all die be die”.
In an interview with Citi News the General Secretary of the Association, and General Overseer of the Sheepfold Ministries, Rev Gideon Titi-Ofei said everybody, especially members of the two main political parties, the NDC and the NPP, must desist from using media platforms to make comments capable of generating rancor, chaos and pandemonium in the country.
The Association is advocating a return to debates on the strategies to create jobs, achieve quality educations and generally uplift the quality of the life of the Ghanaian.
“We take exceptions to statements that do not address unemployment, hunger, poverty and development in this nation. They (political leaders) should tell us how they are going to solve these problems.
“They are setting the agenda for discussion on radio and these things that are on the front pages of our newspapers are what that these political leaders are saying. We are saying that they should talk about things that would move this country forward.
“Since this Nana Addo statements came out the NDC have come to condemn it, the NPP have gone into the history books to refer the NDC to statements that have been made that are similar. It is very bad…we don’t want to hear these things, we are very worried”.
