Pupils of St. Robert Academy at Ashaiman and Oniseh Municipal Assembly Basic School in the Ga South Municipal Assembly had their classes disrupted following heavy the downpour Tuesday evening, Adom FM has learnt.Though teachers and students were present at both schools, classes were put on hold because of the floods.Residences some of the teachers were also said to have been affected by the downpour.The headmaster of Oniseh Municipal Assembly Basic School, Vincent Buertey told Adom News that the roofing of his residence was ripped off by the strong wind that preceded the rains, compelling him and his colleagues to seek refuge in the school.Narrating his ordeal to Adom News, Mr. Buertey said when they got to the school the roofing of the school had also been carried away.Upon seeing the destruction the rain had caused to the school they turned back to the house only to realise that his house had been taken over by floods.Over ten other houses were also flooded with some of them having their walls collapsing.The house of the Chief of Oniseh, Reuben Akpalu which also serves as his palace, was also ruined by the rain.There were other reported cases of flooding at places like Parakuo Estates near Dome in Ga West, and Odawna market in Accra.Some affected victims who spoke to Adom News said they had lost all their belongings to the rain and called on the National Disaster Management Organization and other philanthropists to come to their aid.Story: Kwaku Adu Kum/Adom News.
