There have been sporadic gunshots in Buipe in the Northern Region during the celebration of the Damba festival by the Buipewura.Dr. Ahmed Jinapor, spokesperson of the Buipe Traditional Council confirmed the shooting to Joy News.According to him, two people have reportedly been shot, but Joy FM is yet to independently verify.He said the Buipewura who has been at the centre of a protracted chieftaincy crisis was celebrating the Damba Festival when the shooting started.It is not clear who is behind the shooting.He said the Buipewura has been whisked to a safe place until calm is restored.
He has called for police reinforcement to maintain law and order.The Northern Regional Police Command has subsequently dispatched police personnel to the area.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
