The Council of Elders of the Old Vandals Association, alumni of the Commonwealth hall of the University of Ghana, on Saturday, elected Alhaji Razak El-Alawa as its new national president, through popular acclamation.Alhaji EL-Alawa, Chief Executive Officer of El-zak Media Consult, is a renowned media practitioner, who has won many awards both local and international.The council also elected Mr Nketsiah Sarpong, a chartered accountant, as the vice president, the national treasurer is Mr E.K. Owusu Donkor whereas Dr. Clement Apaak is the new organising secretary.Mr Francis Avornyotse was elected as the assistant secretary with Mr Kwame Takyi, retaining his position as the secretary.Mr John Mbroh, member of the council of elders, at a National Executive Congress at Takoradi, in the Western region, entreated members to always stand for the truth and be loyal in their endeavours, adding that, “Truth stands, truth is spiritual”.He paid tribute to the past leadership for their efforts to get the association running, regardless of the teething challenges it had had to grapple with.The national executive also urged hall masters of the hall to educate fresh students on the tenets of vandalism, to avoid the misconception that always characterised the activities of the hall.Alhaji El-Alawa, in his acceptance speech, pledged to be committed to his duties and would help raise the association to greater heights.“I am going to mobilize and organise all resources for the advancement of this association, and I will count on your support, let move like one people with a common destiny,” he added.Source: GNA
