Days after severing ties with management, Hip life group, 4x4, has released a press statement indicating that they are going to manage their own affairs.
The trio made up of Captain Planet, CoDED (formally Abortion) and Fresh Prince parted ways with the management- Paradise Entertainment after two years of working together – the contract ended March 3 2011.
In the statement released Wednesday, the group revealed that they have established, X4 Records, their own record outfit under which they will be releasing their musical works.
According to the release, they are currently finalizing their 5th album entitled Waist & Power set to be released 2nd quarter of this year.
Silky voiced vocalist of the group, Fresh Prince, said the album has, “elements completely different from our previous releases; we put a lot of thought into the subject matter, appeal and rhythm of the songs; it’s a whole new 4x4.”
The first single and video of the album which incidentally happens to be the album’s title, according to the statement, is ready and will be released in a few weeks.
Leader of the group, Captain Planet said, “We entered 2011 with a vision and plan to leverage on our successes beyond where we are now and feel that we need to take this journey differently. We have enjoyed our time with Paradise as they have with us and we thank them.”
4x4 enjoyed a phenomenal year – 2010- with their last album World Trade Centre. They won several awards including Afro-pop Song of the Year at last year’s Ghana Music Awards.
