Okokodurfo Ogyeabo Kwamina Hammah Ababio II, Omanhene of Ajumako, has called on family heads to cooperate with properly installed chiefs for good leadership and development.
He said the situation where family heads after some few years of installation, turned their back on the chiefs, stifles the chiefs of legitimacy and the area of development. The Omanhene made the call at a ceremony to elevate Nana Afrasi Brempong VII, Odikro of Ajumako Assin (Kweikrom) to the status of a divisional chief under the title of Sanaahene of Ajumako Traditional Area.He said the elevation of Nana Afrasi Bremapong VII was in recognition of the wonderful role his late uncle, Nana Afrasi Brempong VI, played when the area was being separated from the Breman Asikuma Traditional Council and other important services he rendered to the people during his regime. The Omanhene said Nana Brempong VII has become the first Sanaahene of the Ajumako Traditional Area and called on the Afrasi Twidan family of Ajumako Assin (Kweikrom) to support the chief to lead them to develop the area.
He urged the chief to follow the foot-steps of his late uncle and work towards the development of the area.Earlier in the day, Nana Brempong was carried in a palanquin through the principal streets of Ajumako amidst fontomfrom drumming and brass band music to the forecourt of the Traditional Council where he took the oath of allegiance.
The Ebusuapanyi, Mr Yaw Asante, led the family to present drinks and a ram to the Omanhene as custom demand.
Nana Brempong thanked the Omanhene for the honour done him and promised to collaborate with other chiefs to develop the area.source: GNA
