The Minister for the Interior has renewed the curfews imposed on the Bawku Municipality and the Gushegu and their immediate environs with effect from Monday March 14, 2011.
A statement in Accra signed by Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, Minister for the Interior on Tuesday, said this was on the advice of the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument.
The curfew hours for the Bawku Municipality are from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am while those for Gushegu Township are from 12.00 midnight to 4.00 am each day.
The statement said the Government was encouraged by the return of relative peace to both the Gushegu township and Bawku Municipality and their immediate environs.
Meanwhile, government has reiterated that there was a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu township and their immediate environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapon.
The statement warned that any persons found with any arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.
