AN 18-year-old toilet attendant at Moshie Zongo in Kumasi has ended his life by hanging. Wahabu’s lifeless body was found tied to a rope, hanging on a tree in the early hours of yesterday. Scores of people in the Muslim-populated area rushed to the scene to catch a glimpse of the deceased upon hearing the news. The police were later called to the scene to pick the dead body to the mortuary for autopsy. Wahabu was a Togolese national who moved to Ghana about eight months ago to live with some family members. Eyewitnesses at the scene said Wahabu slept with his brother called Moses, a driver’s mate, in separate rooms at the toilet premises. Moses, after work, usually helped his deceased brother in collecting money at the entrance of the toilet before people used the facility. According to people in the area, Moses said around 4:30 on Sunday morning, he woke up from his sleep and started operating the toilet. Moses later went to his brother’s room for money but did not see him in the room. He took the money and continued working at the toilet until he heard that someone had ended his life by hanging. Moses rushed to the scene to see what had happened only to find his brother hanging on the tree. He said his brother was a good person who never displayed any sign of being worried. Moses said the brother’s decision to end his life came as a great surprise to him. Source: Daily Guide
