President John Mahama has lamented at the indifference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership to call its "rampaging supporters to order."
This follows a "series of attacks on innocent citizens and supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC)" after the party lost last Wednesday's presidential elections, a statement from the presidency said.
According to the Communication Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, who signed the statement, "some supporters of the NPP have also attacked government installations across the country."
"President Mahama has accordingly directed the security agencies to deploy across the country and arrest any person(s) caught vandalising government property or attacking innocent Ghanaians," he said.

In a related development, the Police PRO, Supt. Cephas Arthur, has called on the general public, especially, supporters of the NPP to desist from engaging in any acts that will violate the rights of other people and also breach the peace prevailing in the country after the polls.

"The Police are further, entreating party supporters in jubilant mood to go about their celebration in moderation," he said cautioning those who are engaging in acts of vandalism and rowdism to desist.
Supt. Cephas Arthur said Police officers who have been deployed to maintain law and order will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute those who break the laws of the land.
