One of Joy FM’s flagship programmes, Home Affairs, visited the children's Unit of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital last Saturday to make a donation and show them love.
As part of their 'December on Home Affairs Promotions 2016', the team donated boxes of juice, biscuits, sanitary pads and provided lunch for the children.

Together with The Evergreen Ladies (TEL), who contributed GH¢2000, the donation was made to kickstart the children’s Christmas celebrations.
TEL is a group of young professional and corporate ladies who support and provide social intervention for women and children.

The donation which was the brainchild of host of the programme, Edem Knight-Tay was supported by the kind courtesy of Healthilife, who supported with boxes of juice and Royal King Crackers who supported with boxes of biscuits.
Forever Easy also supported with sanitary pads with FOOD 101 providing lunch for the children.

“Seeing children in that state is heart breaking. Even more devastating is learning that their condition is for life,” Mrs Knight-Tay said.
“For some of them, where they find themselves is not by their doing. Some are as a result of attempted abortions, unhealthy pre and post-natal practices, drug abuse during pregnancy, complications during labour amongst others,” emotional Knight-Tay added.

The team lauded the dedication of the caregivers whose efforts they described as overwhelming.
Some members of the team were in tears when the caregivers disclosed that some parents have abandoned their children at the Hospital and warned the nurses never to be contacted with anything regarding the children.

Mrs Knight-Tay is pleading with the general public, NGOs, Civil Society Organisations and other philanthropists to support the Unit with clothes, food, cash or to volunteer.
The Award-winning programme, Home Affairs, which aims to make homes out of houses airs every Saturday morning from 6:15 a.m -7:30 a.m.
