Two men are facing charges of conspiracy to export narcotics and attempted export of marijuana at a Hohoe Circuit court.
Anum Gyartey and Arimyao Anyass, both traders at Hohoe Zongo, have been remanded in prison custody.
They pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on April 12.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Benjamin Dadzie told the court that operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations received information on the activities of a marijuana smuggling gang in the Municipality and mounted surveillance.
He said the operatives intercepted a Togo bound commercial vehicle and searches revealed 43 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana concealed in four bags containing cola nuts.
Mr Dadzie said the driver mentioned Gyartey and Anyass who had already set-off to Kpalime in the Republic of Togo awaiting the arrival of the booty.
He said the driver was prevailed upon to invite the suspects to collect the consignment using security concerns as excuse leading to the arrest of the two when they surfaced at Hohoe.Source: GNA
