A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced a 26-year old unemployed man who stole two laptops and cellular phones from students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to 12 months imprisonment. Theodore Essan Mensah pleaded not guilty. Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that the complainants, Amoako Karikari Junior and Eva Bonney are both students of the KNUST. On March 23, Karikari woke up from his sleep by an unusual noise and detected that his Dell laptop computer was missing from his room. Instinctively, he rushed out only to find Mensah carrying away the computer and raised the alarm. The prosecution said this attracted other students who chased and arrested Mensah. They retrieved from him the stolen laptops and cell phones and was handed over to the police.Source: GNA
