A Tarkwa circuit court has sentenced a 26 year old second hand cloths dealer, Nana Yaw, to seven years imprisonment, for defiling a 15 year old Junior High School pupil at Kedadwen, near Tarkwa.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court, presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that, in November last year, the accused proposed love to the victim and started having sexual intercourse with her resulting in a pregnancy.
The prosecutor said in March this year, the victim’s mother detected some changes in her daughter and when confronted, the victim denied, but a medical test at the Tarkwa government Hospital confirmed that she was 24 weeks pregnant.
Inspector Amponsah said further interrogation led to the victim disclosing that it was Nana Yaw who impregnated her.
The case was then reported to the Police and the accused was arrested and charged for defilement.
