The people of Jadema community, in the West Mamprusi district of the Northern region, on Wednesday, arrested a Fulani herdsman for allegedly raping a married woman.
According to Mr Issahaku Jibrila, Assembly member for Jadema, the woman in the company of two other women, had gone to the bush in search of firewood when they were attacked by three Fulani herdsmen.
He said two of the women managed to escape to the village and reported the incident to the chief, who mobilized a search party to arrest the attackers.
Mr Jibrila said the search party managed to arrest one of the Fulani herdsmen, while his two accomplices escaped.
He told the GNA in Walewale that the two women who managed to escape reported that the Fulani herdsmen broke the hand of the victim twice and tied her legs apart to a tree before taking turns to rape her.
The incident has since been reported to the Walewale district police, whiles the victim, in her early thirties and a mother of four has been sent to the hospital for medical examination.Source: GNA
