President John Evans Atta Mills has urged Asanteman to sustain the peaceful environment in order to promote development in their region.
President Mills said this when he paid his respects to Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace as part of his regional tour of the area.
President Mills seized the opportunity to commend Otumfuo on his peaceful reign and contribution to the development of Asanteman and the country as a whole.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in his welcome note stated that the Asante stool is not a preserve for any political party to find favours.
Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene, the Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II made it clear to the president that the Asante chieftaincy has at heart, the development and welfare of its people as well as the nation.
Daasebre appealed to government to finish all projects that it started in the region in fulfillment of its action year promise.
Earlier the President and his entourage were well received on arrival by high powered delegation and hundreds of admirers at the Kumasi airport.
His next stop would be meeting with the Zongo chiefs in the Muslim community.
