The Central Regional Coordinator of President Mills official campaign team, Get Atta–Mills Endorsed (GAME), Ato Forson has said former Asante Kotoko boss, Herbert Mensah should be invited for interrogation by the National Security apparatus for maligning the President.
In an interview with Adom News, Mr. Forson described Mr. Mensah’s claim as ridiculous.
Earlier on Tuesday, Herbert Mensah alleged on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem that he and former President Jerry Rawlings had discovered from security tapes obtained from the Castle that President Mills planned on spending about GHS 90 million on his flagbearership campaign.
He would not go into much details but said he would reveal everything when the time is right.
Mr. Mensah’s allegations have been condemned by NDC executives and other party stalwarts who have also denied the claims daring him to give evidence and Mr. Forson becomes the latest to wade into the matter.
He said the statement is a threat to national security and can cause instability so the truth must be ascertained, hence the need for Herbert Mensah to be compelled to produce evidence that shows that indeed such an allocation has been made.
He stated that Herbert Mensah’s claims are part of a calculated attempt by some people within the NDC to discredit the integrity of President John Evans Atta Mills who is the best candidate for the 2012 elections.
Mr. Ato Forson said the president has no intention of spending that huge sum of money for his campaign because many sympathizers are willing to fund his campaign.
He also disclosed that the campaign team of the President is working voluntarily, so it is inappropriate for anybody to allege that they plan on spending that huge sum of money.
He cautioned Herbert Mensah to be careful about making such derogatory remarks about the President because GAME will not countenance people who seek to destroy Prof. Mills’ reputation.
Mr. Ato Forson said GAME will pursue the matter with keen interest to ensure that Mr. Mensah is dealt with for peddling falsehood against the president.
