Andre Ayew scored his second goal in the space of three weeks for West Ham as the Hammers fell 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium to Bournemouth.
Josh King scored a hat-trick to make amends for missing a first-half penalty as Bournemouth returned to winning ways with a 3-2 triumph over West Ham.
Michail Antonio marked his comeback to the Hammers’ starting XI with the opening goal after 10 minutes and only a minute after King sent a penalty wide. The Bournemouth striker redeemed himself with a well-taken finish to equalise on the half-hour mark.
Benik Afobe had the perfect opportunity to put the Cherries into the lead five minutes later when referee Bobby Madley pointed to the penalty spot once more but his effort was poor and this time the Cherries were denied by Darren Randolph.
Bournemouth's Joshua King celebrates scoring their first goal with team mates
King’s eventful afternoon continued when he bagged his second of the game three minutes after the restart but his goal was cancelled out by an 83rd-minute equaliser from substitute Andre Ayew who thought he had rescued a point for West Ham.
The home side were always likely to have the final say however and there was sheer delight for the Cherries when King popped up with the winning goal right at the death.
Bournemouth’s first win in 10 league games mean they move into 14th, eight points ahead of the drop zone and only three behind West Ham who remain 11th.
This is the third straight game Ayew has either scored or assisted for the Hammers.
