Management of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has officially announced the 50 years celebration of the Institute.
Established by the United Nations in 1961, GIMPA has served as a world-class centre of excellence providing several Ghanaians and others from the sub-region with quality training in management, administration, governance and leadership.
Launching the anniversary at a press Conference held at the Greenhill Campus on Wednesday, June 29, the Director of Corporate Affairs and Institutional Advancement, Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright, said the milestone offers an auspicious opportunity for all stakeholders to celebrate. “We’ve come a long way as an institute, and our growth over the years is a testament to all who have passed through the Institute.”
“We’ve worked diligently to re-define education,” said GIMPA Rector Prof. Yaw Agyeman Badu. “Today, GIMPA’s name is well-known in Ghana, Africa and beyond as a Center of Excellence. We’ve earned that title, thanks to the good work of all former and present GIMPA faculty and staff.”
Several activities are lined up to commemorate the year-long golden jubilee celebration. A pre-launch concert in April brought together GIMPA stakeholders, who were well entertained by some of Ghana’s top music icons like Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie, Becca, Trigmatic and Okurasene.
June 30th, the actual birthday of the Institute will be marked with several fun activities, says Mrs. Mercy Bampo Addo, Head of the GIMPA @ 50 Secretariat.
“On June 30th, we want to make it a big family affair. We want to revitalize our unity cord and bring back the closeness that we enjoyed when GIMPA was a much smaller community. Beginning with a church service, we have line up activities that will help us bond as a unit.”
As part of the Jubilee Celebration activities, a special congregation to commemorate its 50 years anniversary is planned for later this year. “This will be the hallmark of the celebration,” shared Rector Agyeman Badu.
The congregation, among other things will provide an opportunity for the Rector to share his vision for the next 50 years as well as reflections on years past.
