Musician, Bice Osei Kuffuor known in showbiz as Obour has promised a total revamp of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to the benefit of its members when elected as the union's president.Obour is among four candidates; Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Nana Tuffour and Willie Roy, who are vying for the MUSIGA presidency.His presidential bid has the backing of several industry personalities including Alfred Benjamin Crentsil (A.B. Crentsil), Kwame Sefa Kayi, Ayigbe Edem, Richie, Rex Omar, Abraham Ohene Djan, Nacy and Okyeame Kwame who described him as, “a great musician, a great leader and a great businessman.”Obour told media personnel and musicians during the launch of his presidential campaign at the Coconut Groove Hotel Tuesday that structural challenges facing musicians in the country is what has pushed him to run for the presidency.As much as he is 'okay', his unrelenting quest to see the betterment of musicians and society is the reason for his campaign and due to this drive, he has successfully executed several campaigns including road safety and tuberculosis awareness.He is with the believe that, “MUSIGA should be able to change the lives of musicians.” stating that he will re-brand the union to look more attractive and to bring on board all musicians who have not had a reason to join the union.With result oriented people to man his administration, Obour revealed that he will form a strong affiliation and bond with the various festivals in Ghana including international festivals for musicians to take advantage of.Outlining what he will do when he assumes power, Obour said results of his administration will be felt in his first one hundred days in office. His first obligation will be to open MUSIGA's doors for all musicians to join the union.He promised to bring at least 70 percent of active musicians into the musician's fraternity and that, MUSIGA offices will be set across the world for Ghanaian musicians in the diaspora.To him, an integral part of his campaign is the welfare of MUSIGA members; aging and the disabled who no longer have meaningful sources of income.Obour is running under the motto: AJUMAPA.
