A Former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Alhaji Sidiku Buari has urged members of the musicians’ body to grow out of the practice where losers blame people for their defeat. His comment comes after some members of the union who contested various position in the just ended MUSIGA congress in Tamale complained that the election was not free and fair. A renowned High Life musician Gyedu Blay Ambolley, who came third in the race to the presidency, told the media soon after count of votes that he lost the elections unfairly. According to him, the election was not free and fair alleging the use of financial inducement to influence delegates at the congress. Gyedu Blay Ambolley who had once served as the vice president of the union believed he is better placed to change the course of musicians in the country. But Alhaji Sidiku Buari on Citi FM said the accusations by Gyedu Blay Abuley and others who lost the election do not come to him as a surprise. “Whenever there is an election, you will see somebody who thinks he has to go out and say something negative about the election. This has been happening all throughout so it is nothing unusual,“ he added. Alhaji Sidiku Buari who served several years as MUSIGA President noted that there is the need for members of the union to put their differences behind them and form a united front to fight for the pressing needs of the union. He called on those who lost the election to assist the newly elected President Obour in his quest to improve the standards of the union and music in the country as a whole. Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour, beat three others, Nana Tuffour, Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Willie Roi to become MUSIGA President. Obour, youngest among the contestants, polled 64 votes while Nana Tuffour had 51 votes, Ambolley 24 and Willie Roi 2.
