A male nurse of a private clinic at Patabuso Nkwanta in the Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western Region, has been arrested for taking advantage of the absence of the doctor and performing an illegal abortion.
The suspect, Victor Mawusi Beblie, 43, was said to have taken charge of the clinic after the doctor, who happens to be his uncle, had travelled abroad.
Also arrested on the charges of incest and criminal abortion were also a husband and wife, who were alleged to have taken the victim to the King Solomon Clinic.
According to the police, the husband, John Apedo, was said to have impregnated his stepdaughter while his wife, Agnes Gyamfuah, took her daughter to the clinic and requested for abortion.
They said after their arrest, the nurse denied ever carrying out any abortion, but later admitted the offence.
The suspect produced a certificate indicating that he was a trained nurse and the police were yet to vet the authenticity of the certificate.
