Manny Pacquiao has said that he believes Connor McGregor doesn't stand a chance during his upcoming bout against Floyd Mayweather.
The fight between McGregor and Mayweather was recently confirmed after months of speculation and it is set to be one of the most eagerly anticipated fights in history.
This is despite the fact that it will be McGregor's first boxing fight as an amateur or a professional, as he moves over from MMA, whilst Mayweather has a record of 49-0 and is widely considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighers of his generation.
Pacquiao, who could have potentially been fighting McGregor had he not been beaten by Mayweather in a blockbuster fight in 2015, expressed his disinterest in the fight.
“McGregor has no chance in this fight,” Pacquiao told Yahoo Sports. “In fact, it could be very boring.”
Pacquiao, who was known for his speed when fighting, said that against the more defensive Mayweather McGregor may not even land a punch.
“There is no way he will be able to land a meaningful punch on Floyd,” Pacquiao said. “How could he? He has no professional experience in boxing.”
The Filipino, who is a senator in his country and has spoken about one day potentially running for president, added that the fight he was really looking forward to watching is the upcoming bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez on September 16.
“The real fight and the best fight is [Gennady] Golovkin vs. Canelo [Alvarez], the best vs. the best. That’s the fight I will be watching."
