The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) says it is working with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to medically certify retailers of sachet water.
The Food and Drugs Board law requires that all those who handle food, water inclusive, must pass the food handlers test.
Sellers of pure water are therefore being entreated to go for medical tests at the KMA’s Health Directorate.
A statement signed by National President, Magnus Nunu, said there should not be any compromise on the quality of packaged water sold on the market.
The consuming public is advised to look out for the KMA’s permit budge before patronizing the water from retailers. They are also to look out for the
FDB number, the Association’s Logo and the Standards Board’s logo.
Meanwhile, the association has reiterated the price of a sachet is 10 pesewas whilst as bag sells at Gh¢1.20p.
