Workers in the Tamale metropolis are said to have been stranded on Monday morning as taxi drivers begun a strike protesting against the arrest of their colleagues.
The arrested drivers were said to have been detained in prison custody for their alleged involvement in the attack on the offices of Umaru Ghana Limited, a company contracted to ensure motorists do not park at unauthorised places.
Reports say the protesting drivers are moving around the metropolis ensuring none of their colleagues operates today.
Joy FM’s Mahama Shaibu said even as at midday, “the situation remains the same” as only a few commercial cars were seen plying the road at the blind side of the protesters.
This, he said has affected the movement of some workers and individuals who ply the road especially those who work outside the metropolis.
