The Ghana Muslim Mission has presented used clothing, footwear and rice in support of the upkeep of the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.
Alhaji Mohammed Kyirapem, Ashanti Regional Protocol Officer of the Mission, said this was their modest contribution to efforts at making life a bit comfortable for the prisoners.
He said they were enjoined by their faith to show charity to the poor and the needy in society.
Alhaji Kyirapem said it was their prayer that the prisoners would come out reformed and accept to lead decent lives.
The Reverend Martin Padi, Chaplain of the Prisons, who received the items on Monday, thanked the Mission for the gift and invited all to assist to make conditions at the prisons better.
He urged the Mission to make regular visits to the prisons.
